This morning was the usual...painful start. My mouth and throat really do not want to get moving in the morning. Stiffness. Pain. Dry. Generally cranky. However, once I get past that, things are okay. In fact, this morning I was surprised at how "good" I felt. Sadly, my voice does not follow suit so chatting with mom can't really happen. I wave at her. LOL
Once I was all dolled up and ready for the day, I set about working on my textbook. I sorted through some papers and got them organized. I reviewed some of the sample table of contents and central themes around which I wish to build each chapter. After 20 minutes I was exhausted. Seriously. Like pass out and snore like a pig exhausted. I gathered myself and went to bed...for two hours. That is so screwed up!
With my nap taken, it was clearly time for food...with all the calories I'm burning by breathing and sleeping. Mom insists on cooking everything, even though I am physically capable. Mom loves her baby boy. She made me hash browns with ham and cheese in them. It was like an omelette made of potatoes instead of eggs (at my request). YUMMY! It was soooo good. I actually tasted it a bit. I had to use a bunch of numbing mouthwash and a ton of water to get it past my cranky throat but mission accomplished. Tonight is steak with potatoes and gravy. More amazing yumminess (that I will sort of taste...but my imagination works wonderfully well).
Cold stuff (e.g., ice cream, smoothies) that you'd think would be good for my throat are terrible. The cold stuff gets stuck in the sludge at the back of my throat and sits there. It is like a cruel joke...brain freeze from hell, and it just hurts my throat. Over the past couple of nights I have been thinking about the Creamsicles in the freezer and how badly I want some. Maybe the throat thing will abate to the point I can snarf some of them down soon (not to mention the black cherry ice cream that's waiting for me too).
I am going to work on the book stuff some more. That likely means 20 minutes and I'll be out cold on my bed again. Very productive.
