Day 16 - PICC Line

August 1
I had radiation in the morning and, at 1:30, had an appointment for the insertion of a PICC Line. The "peripherally inserted central catheter" will be the new way for chemo to be delivered so I stop being a pin cushion and, with some luck, not have any more complications (see previous posts).
IVs gross me out on a good day. Having this catheter inserted into a vein in my bicep was no better. The chemo doc gave me an Rx for one lonely, little Ativan. I took it 15 minutes before the procedure as instructed. Like so many other "controlled" medications, it did exactly fuck all to me. So much for trying to relax during the procedure. At the end of it, however, I cannot regale those following this blog with a tale of peril, panic attacks, or peeing my pants. It went as okay as it could go.
Special thanks to my friend Kendra Ann for driving me to and from the appointment and for being the wonderful, calming influence she is.
