Forging Ahead

Well, it has been over a month since I offered an update. Sorry about that. When there is less and less to report (a good problem to have in this instance), it is hard to remember that people might like to know exactly that!

First, the not-so-great. There is still pain when I eat. I get those goofy little clear blister things in my throat. While that is getting old, I remind myself of the potential alternative that existed one year ago. Some of my very favorite pizza (Savoy here in Minnesota and Boston Pizza in Canada) does not have the same taste it used to. But, I still can eat it as opposed to being, you know, like dead or something. LOL! I will also be getting a new MRI of my cervical spine to see if radiation did something to exacerbate the existing stenosis that predated cancer by a decade. When I jog or walk any significant distance, there is a shooting tingle that runs the entire length of my back when I look down (I discovered this when I looked down to open a water bottle while jogging). It is a rather jarring experience.

Ok, onward and upward. I can eat. I can taste. I can jog. I can walk. My scans and scopes show no medical issues related to cancer, now seven months after the end of treatment. I still enjoy lots of time with Halo.

I've had the chance to visit friends in Canada multiple times. Mom is slated to get her new hip on April 2 and I'm looking forward to her not having to deal with chronic pain. I'm making progress on the new textbook (nine chapters are done) and have ideas for other things I would like to publish.

One project that has been delayed is my hope to start a podcast, or at least start posting videos. This will be very helpful when it comes to advertising, indirectly, the book I'm writing. Perhaps in the coming month I'll find a window of opportunity to at least do a couple introductory videos. Stay tuned.
